Hogwarts has no shortage of flying enthusiasts, probably the reason Professor Baldvinsson's lessons are so popular. With a term requiring students to be more fit and focused, one would expect for the lessons to put their improved skills to the test. What was a bit more unexpected was the way Baldvinsson teamed up with Professor Noble on a chilly autumn day to bring flying and potions together on the pitch.
It quickly became evident that this lesson was a proactive one, meant to aid students with a tool to take on minor injuries obtained on and off the pitch. Was the recent SORE training inspiration for the lesson? Perhaps. Was it clear the beloved feather sporting flying instructor wasn't a fan? That much was definite. In any case, it was a lesson that would come in handy to almost everyone in attendance.
Students started off by sharing tips and tricks they've used to avoid the hospital wing and speed up the healing process during their time at Hogwarts. Suggestions ranged from stretching and icing to pastes and potions, all adequate ways to help your body feel better. Some students, however, felt the drama needed to be saved for somewhere else. "Or you could just rub some dirt on it and quit complaining,” Suggested Zoryn Spinnet, a Gryffindor with a high tolerance for pain, it seemed. Not exactly the line of thinking that would land you off the injured player list. After the discussion, students got to work together to practice RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. A, dear I say, adorable demonstration followed in which Professor B demonstrated his healing skills on Professor N, before allowing the students to get to work.
After some practice, and some serious storytelling- one Mr. Maxton Carden overheard saying his feigned injuries were from evil villains, the class moved on to the potions portion where they made simple bruise paste, something that would surely come in handy for every Hogwarts student at one time or another. All in all, the lesson proved to be a useful one.

Captains
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Patrick Dooley, the newly appointed Slytherin Quidditch Captain to get to know him a little better. Read on to see what he thought about the new staff members, but also how he did as a Quidditch Captain for the first time.
This term started out with Hawthorne getting fired and some new guys coming in. What did you think of that first feast?
Oh Merlin. I was so confused. One minute everything was going along just fine then the next thing i knew some random guys were coming in taking over. It was like a scene from a muggle movie.
Then came the early morning runs. How did you feel about those? Do you think they benefited your quidditch team at all?
The running was brutal at first. Not because it was terribly difficult but there were so many people and they just watched over you like hawks. I personally love to run do it all the time because I play baseball. But I like running at night under the stars. I think it helped me see just how determined my team was to show up each morning and then show up at practice later in the day.
We slowly started to see some of our professors get fired. How did you feel about that? Did you lose any favorites?
I lost my head of house which was hard because not only had Professor Vance left but I was really starting to enjoy my chats with Professor Kennedy as both my Head of House and a professor. I think getting rid of teachers mid lessons was wrong and created serious issues for us students.
Did you have any trouble following the new, strict rules?
Snacking that was brutal. I’m always hungry, I’m always grabbing a snack on my way to class. Lost five points for having an apple before class began. So ridiculous.
Were you ever on Scrimgeour’s side? If so, was there ever a point where you changed your mind?
I get wanting to keep us safe I’d had a few run ins where I felt like school was a bit dangerous. But the way he went about things was way too much his way or the highway and that’s not always the way to go.
Did you find any secret places to hide or ways to sneak food out of the great hall?
I like to read for fun and snack so I frequently went to the kitchen and hid out or the room of requirement to snack and read for fun.
If you could use one word to describe this term, what would it be?
Absurd.
Now, about quidditch. How was your first term as the captain? All you dreamed it would be?
It was so awesome. I had some high goals for myself and was pretty tough on myself because i wanted to do well. It was absolutely everything I could dream of coming back the quidditch champs was such an experience. I’m so glad that I could do that. Hoping I can do it again next year.
What’s your favorite position to play?
I love playing chaser which is my position. But if I could play a different one and do some work it would be beater. Never know I may switch it up in the next few years.
Last but not least: if your name was in the headlines for the Daily Prophet, what would it be for?
Uh well I hope it would be for something good. Like maybe winning the quidditch cup for four years or going pro... something awesome.

Juniper Primeaux is a ravenclaw well known for her style, her intense relationship with Slate Ryker and a family with some questionable teaching habits. We sat down to talk about quidditch and whatever the hell else we felt like.
Quidditch is an intense sport. People get hurt. People go missing (check your history books, boys and squirrels). How do you unwind after a game?
I have two different routines, one for each outcome of the match. Win of course first thing is celebrate with the team, take a long hot shower, and get food. If I’m tired I’ll take a nap. Loses are more of cheering myself and the team up. The Ravenclaws get pretty hard on ourselves after a loss. After a loss it’s normally a bubble bath, hot tea and a good book to unwind.
The Quidditch team uniforms are a classic, but classic isn’t always great. If you could, how would you update them?
First I’d get rid of the cape, it’s ugly and flaps around everywhere. Pockets there’s no pockets, I like pockets. Something a little warmer for cold weather. Other than that I really like the classic look.
Do you hate Quodpot enthusiast? I hate quodpot enthusiast.
I wouldn’t say hate, I don’t know any real big quodpot enthusiasts. So I really couldn’t tell you how I feel about them.
In your opinion, who’s the worst Quidditch player in hogwarts (tell us the tea, Juniper)?
Oh wow. Do I really have to call people out like that? Christina Rogers is terrible! She broke my nose last term during the match against Hufflepuff.
Was Slate your first kiss? Do you miss kissing other boys? There’s a lot of ‘em that wouldn’t mind seeing you single.
Does this have anything to do with Quidditch? But yes he was my first kiss. I don’t think about kissing anyone else. I’m very happy where we are right now, so being single isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
Real quick, name three things you can’t breath without.
Oxygen, learning new things and food.
If you could have anyone in your team this year (from any House) who would it be and who would you knock off?
Zoryn Spinnet, obviously she’s a beast on the Quidditch pitch. I really wouldn’t want to knock off anyone of the team this term. Everyone is amazing and we work great together.
We did a hell of a lot of running this year. I’d complain if I didn’t think it really did something for my body of work, if you get my drift. How’d you feel about it? Did it affect you Quidditch wise or nah?
It honestly didn’t bother me. I’d go for a run every day anyway. Maybe not that early in the morning or as long as a distance. I think it worked out good for Quidditch for me anyway, it was a good start to the day. But day after day I really started hating it after a while.
Don’t you think TDK is overrated? I can’t remember the last time I heard a song from them I actually liked.
I really like TDK, my stepmother done a song with them. I really didn’t listen to them before that. But they are not overrated in my opinion.
I’ve heard some people say House Players should get paid seeing as how Quidditch is so dangerous and can (and has in the past) lead to injuries, hospital stays and missed schoolwork. if it was me I wouldn’t mind a salary.
Yeah that would be nice. I don’t see that actually ever happening. I agree that it’s dangerous but to get paid to play. Who would paid the players, the board of governors?
I reckon it would be the BoG unless, Hogwarts considered letting businesses sponsor the teams. Then they would directly pay the players, maybe. Who would you want to sponsor Ravenclaw?
Now that could actually work. If businesses would be on board with that. What business would be a better sponsor than Flourish and Blotts. That is a Ravenclaws favorite spot isn’t?

The new year meant more Quidditch and yet another new Gryffindor Captain. One might even go far enough to say that the position itself is cursed, making Anna Meriwether the perfect candidate for the job! The fourth year Captain gave the season her best shot, but ultimately fell short. And unfortunately for me, I had to sit down with Anna to ask her a few questions about the less-than-optimal season!
Abra and I obviously left you some huge shoes to fill. What was that like?
It was great, actually, because that made me step up to do my best, which I did.
How does it feel knowing you lost the cup and let your entire House down?
It wasn’t too bad, you know, because it’s not like we won it the past two years or anything. Nothing new from when, you know, you were Captain. I did a good job at following in your footsteps, didn’t I!?
They say when a team loses, it’s their captain's fault. Do you agree with the sentiment?
Absolutely, and the team also learns from their Captain. You do know who was my first ever Quidditch Captain. Thanks so much for your inspiration, Zoryn!
Seeing as logic played no part, how did you go about selecting your team?
Oh, that was pretty easy. All I had to do is have a look at the scores from previous years. If you want different results, you need to try different approaches. I’m quite proud to say I was bold enough to try something new and I don’t regret it at all.
How much did Józef Kowalski pay you to put him on the roster?
You direct your bitterness at me, Zoryn, not at him. It’s a shame you can’t think straight, because if you were able to keep track of the scores you’d notice he did really well as our keeper this year and we didn’t lose for lack of defence.
Clearly you don’t have a career as a Chaser. Have you ever considered filling another role on the field? For example, I think you’d make a great mascot!
Why, thank you! Perhaps you should tell that to professor Baldvinson and the coaches of the England U17. I still can’t believe they dare to disagree with you! What were they thinking by making me House Captain and putting me on the national team!??
Y’know, being a professional player takes a lot of skill. What’s your backup plan for when you inevitably don’t get signed onto a team?
I find it funny you’re so confident I will try and go pro when I never said I would. I do wonder what makes you think that’s my plan. Maybe you’d still be a good Captain after all, what with your eye for spotting good skills. I’ll mention it to professor Baldv— oh, wait, never mind.
You landed a detention this term. What was it for and how’d it go?
I wasn’t afraid to speak up my mind, that was all. Nothing you’re not familiar with. It went really well, thanks for asking!
How do you plan to prepare the Gryffindor Team for next term (assuming you don’t get fired)?
I might be nice enough to keep you on the team if you behave.
What’s your skincare regime? I’m making a list of things not to do.
Water and soap.

Hufflepuff Quidditch Captain Bel Macindoe loves Vegemite, extreme sports and her friends. i caught up with her to talk about Quidditch and whatever else I felt like, because it is my interview and not yours.
G’day Bel, is it true all Australians are hot?
G'day! Well I'll say yes if it gets you to put 'stralia on your bucket list to visit!
It's already on my list, that's for sure. what’s the trouble between you and Stephanie Fanelli? I’d say she hates you but that’s like saying Voldemort loves kittens. It might be true, but it doesn’t make sense.
I' m not one to goss or air personal things publicly, but I'm polyamorous and not everyone is okay with that, sometimes at the expense of a friendship unfortunately.
You play a lot of sports, what drew you to Quidditch and how does it fair against the rest?
Honestly it's the only sport at Hogwarts, I didn't really have much choice. My best mate Cameron Tamesis deffo got me into it first though. Its pretty fun, I like the team part, that was new to me.
Remember when you said I coulda been a hufflepuff? Do you still think that because I still think you coulda been a killer lion.
Wanna swap for a day and see how we get on?
Actually yeah. let's do it. What's your first action as a Gryffindor. I think as a hufflepuff I'd go around hugging everyone and planting flowers (that's what you guys do,right?
I would go hang out with Abra, if I got to be housemates with him that's something I'd want to do more.
If you could have someone redesign the Quidditch uniforms (I definitely would) what Fashion House would you pick? Personally, I’d kill to see some Gucci tracksuits on the pitch.
Fox Racing. Does that count as fashion house?
It definitely does. anyway. Abra’s such a babe. Max is a babe too. We got pretty lucky, didn’t we?
Not sure if luck is what I'd call it, I don't believe in fate or anything like that, but I am pretty chuffed to be with Max and its great that he's so accepting of me. As for Abra, I'm glad you make him happy right now, he deserves it.
What do you do to get pumped for a game? What’s the Bel Macindoe rules to success? Actually, you should go out and copyright that before someone unofficially makes it a book.
I dunno if I could come up with something good enough for a book. The biggest thing is to just give things a go. Nobody starts out as the best at anything, you have to put the work in, and you can't get far with that if you aren't having fun.
The quidditch pitch got a lot of play this year and not just from Quidditch. Do you think all those running feet messed with the field?
I dunno why it would, we could play over the lake and it wouldn't make much difference to the game itself. What I didn't like was how exercise became a punishment instead of something good and positive. I've always run every day and worked out on the reg, and I reckon it would be bonza to see people get into it with the proper encouragement, but its gotta be fun and not because of threats.
Polyjuice Potion is wild. If you could (and if it wasn’t hella wrong) who would you turn yourself into? Dead or alive (I’d pick pick Albus Dumbledore or maybe Kingsley Shacklebolt. I want to feel the power).
I just wouldn't, honestly. I like being me and even if it wasn't sus to be using polyjuice in the first place, I don't think its something I would personally feel comfy with or driven enough to try.
